Coniston Water -  tranquil and beautiful lake in the Lake District.

Coniston is to the west of Windermere.  It is a peaceful and tranquil spot. The lake is famous for the various attempts on the world speed record, including Donald Campbell’s ill-fated Bluebird K7 run in 1967 (for more information on this please visit the BBC archive website). It now offers a fascinating and beautiful destination for visitors, with the serenity and history of the Lake as well as many interesting places to visit locally, including Brantwood House. The area around Coniston provides a good range of holiday accommodation as well as a great selection of attractions and things to do.
